DIY Eye Makeup Remover

I'm so excited! I finally found a DIY eye makeup remover recipe that sounds awesome! I found this on Whole New Mom and I'm excited to make up a batch and test it out. (Her post also talks about several other recipes she tried and hated, if you're interested in checking that out.)

The recipe is simple:
2 Tbsp witch hazel
2 Tbsp jojoba or almond oil
2 Tbsp water (filtered is suggested)

Mix the ingredients together and use a cotton ball to apply to the eye area.

This has a shelf life of 6 months, but you can extend that by storing it in the fridge.

DIY Personal Care Products

Thanks to some of my fellow Young Living members who recently had a DIY class, I now know how to make my own deodorant, bug spray, and hand sanitizer! It was fun and easy, and I thought I'd share the recipes with you, too. (These are all made with Young Living essential oils because they're the best IMO).

Deodorant
2 Tbsp arrowroot or cornstarch
2 Tbsp baking soda
2/3 cup coconut oil
5-7 drops of essential oil (your choice)

Mix the ingredients together and store in a glass container.

Bug Spray
8 oz. water
10 drops peppermint oil
10 drops purification oil (a YL blend)
10 drops lemongrass oil (optional)

Put the water in a metal spray bottle and add the oil. Shake before using.

Hand Sanitizer
2 oz. aloe vera gel
1 oz. witch hazel (or rubbing alcohol)
5-7 drops of Thieves oil blend or lemon oil

Combine ingredients in 3 oz. bottle and shake well.

Let me know if you try making any of these and how you like them :)

Henry Being Cute / Ender Books / 4th of July

Well, I kept putting off blogging last week and then forgot about it. So to make up for it, here's a cute video of Henry playing with a balloon:

Remember, if you want to know more about what Henry's up to, check out Little Henry's Big Adventures on FB.

I went to the library Tuesday (I hadn't been in quite a while) and I was stoked to found a new-to-me Orson Scott Card book in the Ender universe, called Shadows in Flight. After my initial excitement wore off, I realized it said "sequel to Shadow of the Giant" and though I've read several OSC books "shadow" in the title, I was pretty sure that wasn't one of them. So I looked up the books in the series and there have been 2 other books that I haven't read in the Ender universe! I went ahead and read Shadows in Flight, and loved it, of course, but now I'm going to re-read ALL THE ENDER BOOKS since missing 2 in the series is as good a reason as any to do so. :)

I hope everyone state-side had a safe 4th of July. I swear every year the explosions get more and more loud and obnoxious. Maybe I'm just getting old. Anyway, I'm too much of a contentious objector to get all YAY AMERICA, so the 4th doesn't excite me much, except that it's the same date Matt and I celebrate our anniversary of becoming a couple. 7 years this year! I'm so grateful for him and for the way our relationship has blossomed and grown.
