Happy National Girlfriends Day!

Today is National Girlfriends Day and what better way could I have spent the wee hours of this morning than helping a girlfriend's boyfriend move? Let me tell you, it was a grand adventure! Or not so much a grand adventure as the first time since just after I moved back here (more or less a year ago) that Sara and I were able to actually spend some quality time alone together.

I got a call from her last night around 6:45 saying that her boyfriend was being evicted that day and would I go to Maryville to help him move out? Being the kind of person raised to lend a helping hand, I said yes and a couple hours later Sara and I and Bubba, the naked mole rat, were hitting the road.

We arrived in Maryville around 9. It was so weird being back there. Sara went to Maryville University while I was off at Penn State Behrend; I went to visit her there once on spring break with my fiance at the time. Strange memories... of partying and having sex where they told us not to... hmm..

Anyway, we are the only 3 people moving him out since the other guy bailed, but by 1:20 AM everything in the apartment was packed up and ready to go (that's 3 people & 1 apartment in 3 hours)!

not that I wasn't bathed in sweat at that point)

Then, thanks to her boyfriend's truck being in a sucky state and hauling a trailer, we crawled back home at 50 MPH and didn't get in until 3:30 AM... at which time Sara and I took a shower together. Because that's what girlfriends do.
